The European Commission announced TraceMap, its new AI (artificial intelligence) platform designed to improve food safety risk assessments by streamlining access to critical data. It identifies links between operators and consignments, monitors the agri-food supply chain, accelerates detection of food fraud, contamination and foodborne outbreaks, and enables faster recalls, strengthening consumer safety and supporting national authorities. The platform will use data from different food safety management platforms across the EU, including the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) and Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES), and will also enable a better control of imported goods, in line with the strengthened measures set out in the Vision for Agriculture and Food.
TraceMap has been accessible to national authorities in all Member States since March 10th.
